Pricing
Credits, explained
Credits are how Blog AI charges for the work that uses AI to research and write. Each action has a fixed price in credits, published below. Everything else, from publishing to reports, is free. This page covers what things cost, when you're charged, and what happens to credits you don't use.

What each action costs
These are the prices the product actually charges: the table is built from the same settings the billing code uses, so this page can't disagree with your bill.
| Action | Credits |
|---|---|
| A batch of post ideas | 1 credit |
| A researched, fact-checked blog post | 3 credits |
| A generated image | 1 credit |
| A post refresh (rewrite of the parts that need it) | 2 credits |
| A full rewrite of a post in your site's voice | 3 credits |
| Merging overlapping posts into one | 3 credits |
| Better title & description in Google (when your search data shows it's needed) | Free |
| Publishing, scheduling, editing, uploads | Free |
A batch of post ideas: 1 credit
Blog AI reads your Search Console data and your existing posts and suggests new topics, each with a target search and a reason. You approve the ones you want and reject the rest. You can also type your own topic, which costs nothing until you write it.
A researched, fact-checked blog post: 3 credits
The writer researches the topic on the live web, plans the post, writes it in your voice with sources cited inline, adds a search title and description, an excerpt and links to your own posts. A separate checker then reads every cited source. All of that is one charge.
A generated image: 1 credit
A featured or inline image made for the post. Uploading your own image is free.
A post refresh: 2 credits
For a post that's losing clicks: Blog AI researches what has changed, rewrites only the sections that need it, and fact-checks the new text. You accept or reject each change before it updates the live post.
Merging overlapping posts: 3 credits
When two or more of your posts compete for the same searches, Blog AI combines the best of them into the strongest page. It never deletes the other posts on your site; you decide what to do with them.
What never uses credits
Most of what you do in Blog AI is free. Credits pay only for the moments an AI model researches or writes something new for you.
- Publishing a post now, or scheduling it for later
- Updating a post that's already live, including applying an accepted refresh
- Editing posts, restoring earlier versions and uploading your own images
- The content audit, and exporting it as CSV
- Your ranked list of suggested actions (Home and the Actions page)
- Performance reports, charts and the weekly digest email
- Weekly AI-visibility tracking on a plan (it has its own allowance per plan, not credits)
- Syncing Search Console and Google Analytics
- Setting and editing your writing voice
- A better title and description in Google, for a post that's shown often but rarely clicked (once it's four weeks old) or has no Google description
When you're charged
The rule is simple: credits are only charged when the work succeeds. How that happens depends on how long the work takes.
Posts, refreshes and merges: reserved, then charged
Writing a post takes a few minutes and runs in the background, so Blog AI reserves the credits when it starts. You'll see the reservation in your credit history as "in progress". When the post is ready, the reservation becomes the charge. If the job fails, the reservation is released and the credits return to your balance straight away, shown as "Not charged".
Refreshes and merges work the same way: the charge settles only when the proposal is ready for you to review. Applying an accepted proposal to your live post is free, and rejecting it doesn't give credits back, because the research and writing were done.
Ideas and images: charged after
These are quick, so Blog AI does the work first and charges only once it has a result. If the AI call fails, nothing is charged.
Seeing every charge
The Billing page in your dashboard lists every credit that came in or went out, with the post it was for and the site it belongs to. It also totals this period's use by type: posts, refreshes, merges, images and ideas.
Where credits come from
Credits reach your balance in four ways:
- Your plan's monthly allowance, added each time your subscription payment goes through: Starter 40, Pro 120, Agency 400.
- Top-ups, bought from the Billing page at any time: 10 credits for $15, 30 credits for $45, 50 credits for $75.
- Referrals: when a friend you referred pays for their first month, they get 10 credits and you get 10. See refer a friend.
- The free post: 3 credits, added and reserved for that one post in the same moment, so they can only be used for it. If that post fails to generate, the credits stay in your balance to use on anything.
| Source | Cost per credit |
|---|---|
| Starter plan ($49 for 40) | $1.23 |
| Pro plan ($129 for 120) | $1.08 |
| Agency plan ($299 for 400) | $0.75 |
| Top-up | $1.50 |
Credits work the same wherever they came from. You can spend top-up and referral credits without a plan, on the one site the free plan allows. Weekly AI-visibility tracking is the exception: it comes with a plan and doesn't use credits.
A month on each plan
Here's what a busy month could look like on each plan. The quantities are only an example; mix the actions however suits your blog. The totals are calculated from the prices above.
Starter: one business blog, about two new posts a week
| Action | How many | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| New posts | 8 | 24 |
| Batches of post ideas | 4 | 4 |
| Generated featured images | 4 | 4 |
| Refreshes of older posts | 2 | 4 |
| Total | 36 of 40 |
4 credits left over, which roll into next month.
Pro: three sites, about two new posts a week on each
| Action | How many | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| New posts | 24 | 72 |
| Batches of post ideas | 12 | 12 |
| Generated featured images | 12 | 12 |
| Refreshes of older posts | 6 | 12 |
| Merges of overlapping posts | 1 | 3 |
| Total | 111 of 120 |
9 credits left over, which roll into next month.
Agency: ten client blogs, about two new posts a week on each
| Action | How many | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| New posts | 80 | 240 |
| Batches of post ideas | 40 | 40 |
| Generated featured images | 40 | 40 |
| Refreshes of older posts | 20 | 40 |
| Merges of overlapping posts | 3 | 9 |
| Total | 369 of 400 |
31 credits left over, which roll into next month.
Rollover and cancelling
Unused credits don't expire. Whatever is left at the end of a month stays in your balance, and next month's allowance is added on top. There's no cap on how many you can carry forward.
If you cancel, your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for, and your credits stay in your account afterwards. You can still spend them on the one site the free plan allows, or pick them up again when you choose a plan.
Credits have no cash value and can't be transferred to another account.
Upgrades, downgrades and refunds
Upgrading
An upgrade starts straight away. You pay the price difference for the rest of the current month, and you get the same share of the difference in credits. Upgrade halfway through the month and you get about half the extra credits; the full new allowance arrives at your next renewal.
Downgrading
A downgrade takes effect when your current period ends, and you keep the credits you already have. The smaller allowance starts from the next renewal.
Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, your plan keeps working while the card is retried, but no new credits are added until it succeeds.
Refunds
If a payment is refunded, the credits it bought are removed in proportion to the refund. If some were already spent, your balance can go below zero; the next credits you receive pay that off first, and anything that needs credits waits until the balance is positive again.
Running low
When you try something that needs more credits than you have, Blog AI tells you how many it needs and how many you have, and offers a top-up or a plan. Nothing is half-done: the action simply doesn't start.
Your balance shows in the dashboard sidebar. If you often run out before your renewal, the next plan up usually costs less than regular top-ups: $1.50 a top-up credit against $1.23 on Starter, $1.08 on Pro, $0.75 on Agency.
Questions about credits
What are credits?
Credits pay for the work that uses AI: a researched, fact-checked post costs 3 credits, and ideas, images, refreshes and merges cost less. Publishing, scheduling, editing, uploads, the audit, reports, AI-visibility tracking and a better title and description in Google (when your data shows a post needs one) don't use credits at all.
Do unused credits expire?
No. Unused credits roll over from month to month, and they stay in your account if you cancel. Deleting your account is the one thing that removes them, because it removes everything.
Am I charged if something fails?
No. Credits are only charged when the work succeeds. When a post is being written, its credits are reserved; if the job fails, the reservation is released and the credits come straight back to your balance. Your credit history on the Billing page shows every charge and release.
What happens if I run out of credits?
Anything that needs credits waits until you have enough; nothing else stops working. You can buy a top-up (10 credits for $15, 30 credits for $45, 50 credits for $75) at any time without changing plan, or move up a plan. Top-up credits cost $1.50 each, more than any plan's, so a plan is better value if you run out every month.
Can I change plans?
Yes, from the Billing page. An upgrade starts straight away: you pay the difference for the rest of the month and get the matching share of the extra credits. A downgrade takes effect at the end of the period you've paid for, and you keep this month's credits.
Is AI-visibility tracking included in the plans?
Yes, without credits. Starter tracks up to 10 questions a site in Claude; Pro tracks up to 25 questions a site in Claude; Agency tracks up to 50 questions a site in Claude. More AI assistants coming soon. Tracking runs weekly.
What are the conditions for the free post?
Your site needs Google Search Console connected and synced at least once, and you need to have set your writing voice. It's one post (worth 3 credits) per person and per Search Console property, and it's for accounts that have never had a paid plan. The free credits can only be used for that post.
Start with the data you already have
Sign in with Google, no card needed. The free plan includes a content audit and one free post once Search Console has synced and you've set your voice. Plans from $49/month.
